Course Description: This archived webcast of a live 12/20/01 broadcast presents an update on the clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of influenza in the community and in healthcare setting, the use of influenza vaccination, and the use of influenza antiviral medications. An update on the availability of influenza vaccine for the 2001 season is provided.

Objectives after the program, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the clinical signs and symptoms associated with influenza.
  • Define the impact of influenza in the community and in healthcare facilities.
  • Understand the use of influenza diagnostic tests and antiviral medications.
  • Identify at risk populations targeted for influenza vaccination and obtain information on the supply for 2.
