Course Description: |
Problem and compulsive gambling is an ever increasing issue in our society and yet, as one of the more silent addictions, most practitioners know very little about it. In this four-week course a team of four experts in the field will cover a variety of topics including: distinguishing between various types of gambling including problem and compulsive gambling; prevalence rates, clinical definitions of pathological gambling (including the DSMIV diagnostic criteria); assessment; screening instruments; and comprehensive approaches to out-patient treatment. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the National Gambling Impact Study Commission and some of its work. |
