Course Description: "Breaking the Intergenerational Cycle of Abuse for Young parents and their Children - Professional Education and Training"

The Maltreatment and Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting Program (MAPPP) is a research-based and field-tested project designed to increase practitioners' awareness of three issues: ( 1 ) the relationship between childhood abuse and adolescent pregnancy, ( 2 ) the likelihood of abuse during adolescent pregnancy, and ( 3 ) the likelihood of abuse among children of adolescent parents. The satellite conference expands MAPPP content by incorporating a wide variety of cross-cultural perspectives through video interviews from Hawaii, Nevada and Texas. A live panel of experts will answer questions from participants via satellite, which are phoned or faxed in by the facilitator and participants.
