| Course Description: |
This course is designed to enable participants to develop the management knowledge and skills needed to design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) programs. Although the primary text emphasizes occupational and environmental health and safety programs, the principles and techniques are also applicable to other health and safety program, particularly other public health programs. The course emphasizes the unique management capabilities those responsible for such programs must possess. Upon course completion the student will be able to:
- Delineate the scope of responsibilities of OEHS managers
- Apply pertinent management theories and techniques
- Establish systems to assure programs and projects are accomplished as desired with respect to outcomes, time specifications and resource costs
- More productively interact with subordinates, colleagues, and supervisors
- Develop methods to contain health care costs in corporate settings while also improving overall health safety and productivity of workers
- Manage professional and personal time efficiency
- Delineate significant regulatory, legal;, ethical and quality issues pertinent to OEHS programs
