Course Title:
Emergency Planning and Management Self-Study Course
Format: Print-based
Cost (US $): 495
Credit Types Offered:

16 of CEU

Course Description: Now more than ever, industrial facilities and business complexes need a comprehensive, work-able emergency action plan (EAP) to prepare for natural and man-made disasters. The new Emergency Planning and Management Self-Study Course: Self-Paced, Measurable Learning for Ensuring Your Company's Survival in the Event of a Disaster is a new and important training tool for developing EPA- and OSHA-compliant plans that reduce the risk of losses. Through its seven lessons and supporting materials, the Emergency Planning and Management Self-Study Course allows students to better understand how to prepare for the risks of natural disasters such as fires, explosions, floods and earthquakes as well as terrorism, workplace violence, civil disturbances, sabotage and hazardous materials releases. More importantly, the course helps students develop a clear and concise plan that details the "who, what, when, where and how" of emergency preparation and response. The course also outlines standard operating procedures for handling emergency situations. The course is based on the textbook, Emergency Planning and Management, 2nd Edition, written by veteran emergency planner William H. Stringfield. Like other ABS Consulting/Government Institutes' self-study courses, the course is supported by a variety of learning exercises and self-tests that reinforce the student's comprehension of the course objectives. Lesson topics include Assessment of Your Vulnerability, Preservation of Records, Survival After an Emergency, and more. The course includes a generic emergency action plan that can be customized by the student, plus an actual sample emergency action plan so students can learn how other organizations are protecting themselves.
