Course Description: |
CVH 2002 will be the key cardiovascular conference of the new millennium. The conference will address the cardiovascular challenges set forth in Healthy People 2010 as well as the overarching goals of increasing the quality and years of healthy life and eliminating health disparities among different social groups and segments of the population, including differences that occur by gender, race or ethnicity, education or income, disability, geographic location, or sexual orientation. With a focus on disease prevention and treatment, the conference will demonstrate how a multitiered approach to prevention, community education, and innovative treatment can impact cardiovascular health. The sponsoring organizations have united to develop CVH 2002 as a way to bring increased attention to the Healthy People 2010 objectives related to cardiovascular health and disease. The conference program will enable health professionals to implement practices designed to significantly reduce cardiovascular disease in all communities by the year 2010. At the completion of the conference downlink, participants will be able to: *Implement strategies designed to significantly reduce cardiovascular disease (CVD) in all communities by the year 2010. *Summarize recent CVD research with corresponding practical application. *Understand health care delivery trends and their impact on CVD screening, treatment, and prevention. *Analyze past CVD interventions and weigh their value in today's world. *Implement health communication strategies and know how to more effectively reach target populations and raise awareness. *Summarize CVD data, including mortality, morbidity, and risk factor prevalence. |
